Fanon Listing

Fanon, a combination of the words fan and canon, is defined as facts or situations that aren't canon (established in true continuity), but over time have been accepted by the fanbase as being true. The following article attempts to list all the items in the Power Rangers franchise that are fanon, or variations thereof. If you know of examples of fanon that aren't listed here, please feel free to tell us in an e-mail so that we can add it.

True Fanon

This section details items that fall under the exact definition of fanon; items that aren't canon but are accepted as true by the entire fanbase (or most of it).

General

  • All seasons take place in California - This was only explicitly proven in the first six seasons, which were set in the fictional city of Angel Grove;1) in Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder, which were located in Blue Bay Harbor and Reefside respectively;2) and in S.P.D., which was set in Newtech City.3) Mariner Bay is likely, though not definitively, in California, since a long-distance busline there sold tickets to Van Nuys, a city in the northwest portion of Los Angeles.4) Lost Galaxy, of course, didn't take place on Earth at all, though some of its citizens are Angel Grove natives.5) According to the series bible, Time Force took place in Silver Hills, Washington (state), and Wild Force took place in Turtle Cove, Colorado,6) though the teamup between the two seasons seemingly invalidates that.7) San Angeles is likely in California based on the nominal pun; a comment by Rose implies that the city is somewhere on the west coast of the US at the very least.8) Ocean Bluff is in California according to Toon Disney's press release for Jungle Fury;9) whether material not directly in the show is considered canon or not is left up to the individual fan. Corinth is located in Boston, Massachusetts.10) The remaining PR city, Briarwood, was not given a location in the show or in promotional material, so portions of the fanbase, for lack of a better option, assume it to be in California as well.11)
  • Some characters have known full or last names that were never revealed in the show itself - Primary examples are Billy Cranston, Carlos Vallerte, Ashley Hammond, Alex Drake, Jen Scotts, Katie Walker, Trip Regis, Hayley Ziktor, Toby Slambrook, Clare Langtree, Veronica Robinson, Spencer Spenser, Casey Rhodes, Lily Chilman, Robert 'R.J.' James, and Dominic Hargan. Some of these last names come from promotional material released while the show aired,12) while others' last names were revealed courtesy of the series bible.13) A few names come from casting scripts and press releases,14) while others come from supplemental material not directly related to the show.15) Some other names have been mentioned courtesy of various official websites.16) The fanbase attitude in general seems to be to take the names revealed via promotional material as ironclad, and the names revealed via casting scripts or press releases as useful but potentially wrong in the future. Names revealed via official websites are up in the air depending on personal preference, but it's worth noting that whenever a name was given first on a website and later in the show itself, the websites were right 99% of the time. The few exceptions were when the name changed during production17) or due to a typo.18) This wiki assumes last names revealed via promotional material and official websites to be legit, unless the show later contradicts them.

MMPR S1

  • Jason's full name is Jason Lee Scott - This was never made fully clear in the show. Missing Green referred to him as “Jason Lee Scott”, but The Power Transfer pt. I calls him “Jason Lee”. The majority of the fanbase seems to use Jason Lee Scott. The official website uses Jason Lee Scott as well.

Turbo

  • Dimitria and Divatox are identical twins - Dimitria mentions in-show that she has a missing sister. The two characters being played by the same actress and Divatox's purification scene in Countdown to Destruction pt. II both lend much weight to the theory of Divatox being the sister and them being identical twins, but it's worth noting, even if it sounds like nitpicking, that the show never actually confirmed it.

In Space

  • Andros and Karone are fraternal twins - While the two are obviously no more than a year or two away from each other, judging by how close in age they looked as children, it was never said in-show whether they were twins or not.

Time Force

  • Alex is a descendant of Wes - This theory partially comes from the hinted relationship between the present and future Red Rangers in Time Force's source material, Timeranger. The show never outright confirmed this; only saying that their DNA was close enough a match for Wes to use the locked Chrono Morpher. It's not a far leap to assume, though the producers of the show claimed the two are unrelated. Biologically it would be impossible for Wes and Alex's DNA to be an identical match unless they were identical twins, or one was a clone of the other. Note, however, that Force from the Future pt. II never said how much of their DNA had to match for Wes to use the morpher; a handful of shared genetic markers - short matching DNA sequences - may have been sufficient. Related individuals are more likely to have genetic markers in common than unrelated individuals.

S.P.D.

  • Jack, Z and Sam are all orphans - While the show never outright stated this, based on canon evidence it's very plausible. Jack's referring to his parents in the past tense in Sam pt. II seems to strongly suggest that they're dead. However, note that Z and Sam never mention theirs at all, therefore while it's not too far-fetched to assume both are orphans, it's not for certain, as their parents could just be severely neglectful. As far as the other Rangers go, both of Syd's parents were clearly alive in Stakeout; Sky was seen to have been raised by both parents at least up to his father's death in Reflection pt. I; and Bridge mentions his mother several times.
  • The S.P.D. Rangers are all only children - This is a logical assumption to make, especially considering that all of them are mutants, and Syd's being spoilt by her parents implies that she, at least, is an only child. However, the show never states one way or another if they have siblings or not.

Operation Overdrive

  • All the Rangers live in the Hartford mansion - Mack is the only member of the team who is definitely established on-screen as living in Andrew Hartford's house. However, the others are shown spending most of their spare time there, and since they come from various places around the world - and in Tyzonn's case, from another planet - it is probable that they have no other home in San Angeles.

Vague Fanon

This section details items that are classified as true fanon, but aren't yet fully accepted by the fanbase due to internal disagreements, arguments, or simply not having spread across the entire fandom yet.

General

  • Various characters may be homosexual or heterosexual, and/or interested in other characters - Seen in fanfics. Shippers are able to find evidence for a lot of pairings across the series, but since there's only a few canon relationships that went to or past the dating stage over the course of the franchise, obviously none of this can be confirmed. More information can be found in the Pairings article.
  • Various characters are related to others - Many people have speculated that Rangers from one season may be related to Rangers or civilians in another (or involved in creating powers). Andros and Karone; Leo and Mike; Dana and Ryan; Hunter and Blake; Nick, Udonna, and Leanbow; Madison and Vida; Mack and Andrew; R.J. and Master Finn; Scott and Colonel Truman; and Gem and Gemma are a few examples of family relationships that have been absolutely confirmed. Any other potential blood/adoptive link between characters seen in discussions or fanfics is pure speculation. Minor examples of this include Kim and Kira, Kim and Kelly (using the theory that Kelly is an older version of Kim's cousin), Kim and any Caucasian male Ranger from In Space onward (using the canonical brother that Kim mentioned in The Wedding pt. I), and Taylor and Tori. Some of the more major examples are pointed out elsewhere in this article.
  • Various unnamed family members were given actual names in-show - Older PR fans that have been reading fanfics for a long time may be under this impression, as some of the names created for Tommy's parents and Billy's father have trickled into common usage.19) However, Billy's father was never actually named in-show. And while the Zeo episodes involving David Trueheart make it clear that Tommy's adopted, his parents were never shown on-screen, so the names of any family members for him other than David are made-up. Similarly, the existence of any adoptive siblings20) are just as speculative.

MMPR S1

  • Birthdates for the core five Rangers are March 7 (Zack), February 14 (Kim), April 1 (Billy), August 9 (Trini), and October 20 (Jason) - This information came from an interactive MMPR CD-ROM that was available as a promotional item at the time. Some of them, however, are hard to match up against the dates in Season 1 we first see some of the teens driving in. Zack's birthdate is even harder to match than the others, since knowledge of the teens' grades and the timeline of the season's start likely slips the S1 episode Happy Birthday, Zack between August and October, rather than March.
  • Trini has passed away - Seen often in fanfics, people have basically taken the fact of her actress, Thuy Trang, dying in a car accident on September 3, 2001, and transferring that to the character. Seeing as how Trini never appeared in the show again after The Power Transfer pt. II, this obviously can't be confirmed.

Zeo

  • Billy no longer lives on Aquitar - Many post-Space fanfics show Billy permanently back on Earth. Billy's last in-show appearance was Rangers of Two Worlds pt. II, besides a minor mention in Legacy of Power, so this can't be confirmed.
  • Tommy and Kat eventually marry and have a family - This future was shown in the episode A Season to Remember, where Tommy tells the story of the episode to one of his grandchildren. Forever Red was supposed to collaborate this with a scene of Kat picking Tommy up from NASADA at the episode's end; this scene was left on the cutting room floor due to lack of time. By the time Dino Thunder rolled around though, Tommy was seemingly shown living as a bachelor, so whether the Zeo episode is still in continuity or not is hotly debated.

Turbo

  • Cassie has a problematic family life - Seen often in fanfics, mainly in the form of indifferent parents, usually high-society based, that show little actual affection for her. A related point of fanon has Cassie living with Ashley or staying onboard the Megaship on a regular basis as a result of trying to get away from her family.21) Neither Turbo or In Space gave enough information on Cassie's parents or relatives for this idea to have come from the show.

Time Force

  • Eric served in the military, most often the Marines - While his manner suggests this, there's no mention in the show of what he did between prep school and the Silver Guardians. Originated in a fanfic.22)

Wild Force

  • Scorpion Rain is in continuity - Scorpion Rain23) was originally an extended hoax played on the fanbase involving an unseen epic that was supposed to take place between the final episode of Zeo, Good as Gold, and the Turbo movie, but never aired. Amit Bhaumik, one of the original people involved in the hoax, later became a writer for the show, and made several references to the hoax in the episode Forever Red, as well as saying on record that he considered the plot behind the hoax firmly in continuity.

Dino Thunder

  • Tommy's house has a small hot water heater - An assumption made by numerous fanfiction authors24) due to the fact that his home is out in the middle of nowhere. A feasible assumption, but impossible to know for sure.
  • Conner is the most powerful Ranger of the entire franchise - A very controversial theory that comes from the fact that the Shield of Triumph could only be used by a person completely in tune with their powers, and that he created his Battlizer out of his own power and a fierce desire to protect the people he cared about. As no other Ranger has created powers or abilities essentially out of thin air, Conner is indeed unique in this aspect. However, this can be argued in different directions: in terms of fighting ability, effectiveness in battle, and leadership skills, Conner is clearly outclassed by others. Only in terms of raw energy/power can this argument be made, and even then, the show never mentioned it either way, so nothing can be confirmed.

S.P.D.

  • Z is the daughter of Danny from Wild Force - Mainly rumored due to the two having the same last name and both being of latino descent. Vaguely feasible in theory, but it's worth keeping in mind that there are a lot of people in California and Colorado with that last name. It also seems a bit out of character for Danny to not leave some type of provision for his daughter to be taken care of after his death, such as adoption by his teammates. This, of course, assumes Danny died, but there's very few theories that better explain why Danny's roughly 12-year-old daughter would be living with a poor family at best and homeless at worse.
  • Time Force is linked to Space Patrol Delta due to adapted technology - By linked, the rumor refers to the idea that TF is created as an evolution of S.P.D. This is a common theory due to seeing the Red Time Force outfit in S.P.D. However, the show never confirmed any actual true link between the two series.
  • The full names of the A-Squad Rangers are Charlene “Charlie” Haywood (Red), “Beevor” (Blue), Clifford “Cliff” Jones (Green), Ivan Lane (Yellow), and Rachel Motohime (Pink) - A-Squad Red was the only Ranger to get a legitimate name within the show, and the name was only given as “Charlie”. All the rest of the names were created as a fan-made joke originally,25) but Bruce Kalish later noted in an interview that he had seen the names and approved of them.26) Full fanbase approval, on the other hand, is still disputed. Greg Aronowitz, for his part, referred to Blue as “The Warrus” while sculpting the head.27)
  • Bridge is obsessed with buttery toast - It's clear he enjoys it, but he only mentioned it twice during S.P.D. and once in OO, so obsession might be a bit of a stretch.
  • Bridge can suffer mental overload if emotions around him are getting too strong - People tend to believe this as an extension of his powers, and is moderately feasible, but he never showed any evidence of this in-show. In fact, he never seemed to be distressed by aura readings, or tried to avoid physical contact. The gloves are suggestive, but no real explanation is given; they could just be a way for him to avoid seeing auras all the time. An explanation of what powers Bridge does and doesn't have can be seen here.
  • Sky and Bridge were made roommates due to Sky's emotional stability - This fact assumes the above was true and that Bridge needed Sky's control over his emotions to help center himself and keep him stable while living at S.P.D. HQ. The show never goes into detail on why they were made roommates originally though, and it's worth noting that Sky isn't emotionally stable so much as he's emotionally repressed, which would probably work against efforts to keep Bridge in control.
  • Bridge owns a large stuffed dinosaur - Initially seen in a fanfic,28) many people have taken this to be true, basing their memories on the episode Abandoned. In reality, Bridge was cuddling in bed with a guitar in that episode, not a large stuffed dinosaur. Walls showed a tiny dinosaur on top of a shelf, but no other episode has shown evidence of him owning a large one.
  • Bridge's father is dead or his parents are divorced - This idea stems from the fact that Bridge mentions his mother several times in canon, but never his dad. This may mean a number of things: perhaps Bridge's dad is dead and he either does not remember him or doesn't like to talk about it; his parents are divorced or separated and he's on bad terms with his father; or it may be a simple oversight by the writers.
  • Sky became the Shadow Ranger post-series - In Once a Ranger, Bridge mentions that Supreme Commander Birdy retired, resulting in Doggie getting promoted to Supreme Commander and Sky to Commander of Earth. However, he never says whether this means Doggie also passed his Shadow Ranger powers down to Sky (and given the context of the episode, had no real reason to mention this). Fandom seems pretty neutral on the issue, and will accept either outcome in fanfic and discussion.

Mystic Force

  • Madison and Vida are fraternal twins - This wasn't confirmed in-show and is based solely on their ages listed at the Jetix website. If those ages are correct though, then they'd either have to be fraternal twins or Irish twins, unless one of them was adopted. Fraternal and Irish are equally feasible, but a large portion of the fanbase to date is assuming fraternal. Everyone else is simply assuming that the Jetix ages are wrong.
  • Briarwood is actually Newtech City 19 years in the past - Promoted as a theory due to Piggy's cameo in Ranger Down, where he mentions that the area would probably be crawling with aliens in 20 years. However, this does not definitively prove the city he was physically standing in would be the same one from S.P.D. later on, since he said nothing about whether he would continue to live in that location or not. All it really proves is that Briarwood, like most of Earth according to Beginnings pt. I, would have a large population of alien races in the future.

Jungle Fury

  • The Pài Zhua and the Ninja Academies are connected - The mentality of this theory is that the Pài Zhua is a subgroup of the Ninja Academies or vice-versa. It is, in fact, quite possible that the two organizations know of each other, and perhaps even talk regularly. However, one being part of the other is extremely unlikely. The two organizations had entirely different aims for one, with one dedicated to watching over Dai Shi as well as training students to unleash the power of their animal spirits, with the other dedicated towards teaching students to call to the power of the elements. The style of martial arts the two groups teach are significantly different as well, with the Pài Zhua focusing on kung fu and the Ninja Academies going with a modified style of ninjutsu. It is extremely rare for martial arts groups in real life that teach significantly different styles to be merged together or to branch off from each other without their styles being at least similar. Finally, since very few Pài Zhua masters are still alive, that means that the Ninja Academies definitely can't be the subgroup. The only way this theory would work is if the Pài Zhua is a subgroup of the Ninja Academies, which is vaguely possible (if you ignore the previously mentioned evidence), since Ninja Storm promos and supplemental material claimed that there were a total of 19 Ninja Academies scattered across the globe, of which only three were shown or mentioned in that season.
  • Masters Phant, Swoop, and Finn are over 10,000 years old - This theory is connected to the episode Ghost of a Chance, in which the Rangers enter the Forbidden Room in their old monastery, look at the mural in the back, and note that animal representations of fighters using the Elephant, Bat, and Shark techniques are shown. They verbally identify these three as their newest Masters. This could, however, just be an incorrect assumption by the three of them, especially in light of the fact that Master Finn's family line has made a habit of passing down the Shark technique over the years and that Master Phant has a niece who seems to be aged no older than her early twenties.

False Fanon

This section details items that are contradicted by the show and other canonical resources, but still seem to be accepted by portions of the fanbase regardless.

MMPR S1

  • Rita's dumpster was on Earth's moon - A common idea that has been a staple of the fandom since the series' conception. While Rita's palace itself is clearly on the moon, her dumpster was not. Nobody ever specifically mentions that her dumpster was trapped on the moon in the series, and at the start of the dumpster opening scene, the astronauts' space shuttle passes Earth's moon on the way to the small planet the dumpster is actually on. This planet has traces of water, albeit little of it as it's primarily a desert planet. The closest match to this planet would obviously be Mars, but it's also possible that Earth simply has two moons in the fictional universe Power Rangers takes place in. A third possibility is that it's an asteroid, albeit one that's amazingly planetoid-shaped. None of the three ideas are supported or debunked by canon, leaving the answer ambiguous. In S1's source material, Zyuranger, the planet was a wandering one whose extended galactic orbit would bring it by Earth every 230,000 years.
  • Billy's mother has passed away - Seen often in fanfics. Originally used as a way to explain why only his father showed up in the episode Return of an Old Friend pt. I, and spread from there. However, Billy spent time working on his mother's vacuum cleaner in Rangers Back in Time pt. I, and he mentions both his parents when he speaks to Mr. Ko in Passing the Lantern and when he goes to Aquitar for the first time in Graduation Blues. So unless he's bending the truth to not have to deal with sympathies from others, she's still alive as of Zeo, and her dying after that can't be confirmed.

Turbo

  • Billy created the Turbo powers and zords - A very popular theory that is taken by many to be ironclad, despite no mention whatsoever in the show. The mentality is that, since Billy was working in an advisory and mechanical role during Zeo, and since he already had experience in building a plethora of special items for the Rangers' usage even since the first season, it would be feasible that he could create an entire set of powers with Zordon and Alpha's help. However, the show itself claims the Turbo powers and zords came from Eltar, Zordon's home planet.29) Meanwhile, a first draft of the movie planned on having the powers be mock-ups of Lerigot's key, created after Billy was already out of the picture. The final version of the movie still treats them as similar to Lerigot's key, but doesn't specify a timeline of creation. Either way, at no point during production of the Turbo movie and season was Billy ever intended to have produced the powers.

Time Force

  • Alex's last name is Collins - This is a popular and logical idea, since Alex is assumed to be a descendant of Wes, but the show never outright said it either way. According to the series Bible, his last name is Drake.

Space Patrol Delta

  • Sky is the son of Wes from Time Force - This rumor originally came about because profiles for the S.P.D. Blue Ranger mentioned that he was the son of a previous Red Ranger. His father in the red Time Force outfit in Walls and Reflection pt. I, as well as a multitude of fanfics,30) helped further this theory. This is still rather hotly debated; some people think it's obvious that it wasn't Wes, but just an S.P.D. forerunner. Others point out that the actor looks similar and could've been intended to be the same character. Jason Faunt mentioned in an interview that he was never approached by the producers to portray Wes, and found the use of the Red Time Force outfit without his participation “an insult to the fanbase”.31) A final confirmation on the subject finally came from Greg Aronowitz, who stated in a post-series interview that S.P.D. was always meant to be its own separate group of Rangers; therefore, Sky is NOT the son of any previously-appearing Ranger, but rather the first S.P.D. Red.32)

Mystic Force

  • Chip lives with his uncle - This was a part of Chip's character bio on the Jetix website prior to the season's premiere. The same bio explained that his uncle, named Carl, owned a farm that Chip worked on, and that he lived there due to his parents passing away when he was 12. However, Chip never discusses his living situation in show, and he makes a joke in Fire Heart with a blatant reference to his mother. Therefore, it's unlikely he lives with his uncle in canon, and if any members of his immediate family did die, his mom wasn't one of them.

Jungle Fury

  • R.J.'s last name is Finn - This theory is accepted by some parts of the fandom due to R.J.'s father being Master Finn. This is argued by other parts of the fandom primarily because it's not known whether Master Finn is even his real name; it could simply be a chosen alias related to his animal spirit. The official website using James as his last name pretty well debunks this theory.

Invalid Fanon

This section details items that were initially accepted by portions of the fanbase, but after being contradicted by the show, have been largely abandoned.

General

Turbo

  • Phantom Ranger is the spiritual essence of all Rangers - This theory showed up in season promotional material at the time,33) and also comes with a secondary point that being part ghost makes him a galactic traveler without a home. However, various episodes from Turbo and In Space clearly debunk this idea, proving that he is a fully functional cyborg, not part ghost. A home planet was also specifically mentioned in-show; he comes from Eltar.

Lost Galaxy

  • The season takes place five to ten years after In Space - In the earliest press materials for the season, Lost Galaxy was quoted as being “in the not-too-distant future”, and Paul Schrier specifically said “5-10 years after Space.” Everything in the show's initial setup seems to point towards this idea. However, the episodes Green Courage, Trakeena's Revenge pt. I and pt. II, Forever Red, and Legacy of Power combined all slot the season back into 1999, debunking the writers' original plans.

Lightspeed Rescue

  • Captain William Mitchell is actually Billy - Initially appeared in fanfics and was plausible at the time for two reasons: #1: Mitchell was a popular surname for Billy (as mentioned earlier in this article), and #2: he was the only Ranger who had actually created powers or zords (though, as the earlier Turbo note in False Fanon mentions, that itself is questionable). Once it was confirmed that Lightspeed Rescue really did take place in 2000, however, this theory was immediately invalidated, as it would be impossible for Billy to have a 20 year old son and an 18 year old daughter when he was only 21 himself.

Ninja Storm

  • Blake and Hunter are unrelated - Original promo material and casting calls gave Blake a different last name as mentioned earlier, showing that he and Hunter were not intended to be related initially. This was changed during filming, with Blake's last name officially becoming Bradley to match his adopted relationship with Hunter.

Dino Thunder

  • Conner, Ethan, Kira, and Trent were juniors in high school - Seen in the initial promotional material for the season, this was invalidated by the teens talking about possible colleges during their senior prom in Thunder Struck pt. II, as well as the first three coming back to Reefside for a one year reunion during the 2005 portions in History.
  • Devin was the Triassic Ranger - This was a plot thread the season was originally going to use, as Doug Sloan, Executive Producer at the time, admitted to fans. The idea was quickly tossed when sentai footage made it clear that the Triassic Ranger was a Red Ranger power-up, not an actual sixth Ranger.

S.P.D.

  • The season takes place in 2020 - This was the year given in promotional material before the season started, but Messenger pt. I invalidated this. The season takes place in 2025.
  • Jack and Z are biological brother and sister - Also seen in early promotional material and casting calls; as noted earlier, they originally had the same last name. This was changed to a type of non-legal-adoption by the time the show aired; the two aren't related at all, but simply lived with each other for five years while on the streets, and mentally treat each other as brother or sister as a result.

Links

1) In Missing Green, when the Rangers get lost while driving to the cabin owned by Tommy's uncle, Billy pulls out a map showing a rough analog of the Los Angeles area.
2) Thunder Storm pt. I shows two scenes of Hayley using her computer to show Tommy an outpouring of evil energy that's affecting the entire state of California. Blue Bay Harbor is shown in the second such scene to be in a 50 mile radius somewhere around the town of Firebaugh. Reefside's location is not given, but it's close enough to be affected by the same energy waves. This is a direct location-to-location match though; no actual city in this area is a good populational, economic, or demographic match to Blue Bay Harbor. Firebaugh itself is at least 10 times smaller than the fictional city. There's also the fact that the city is named Blue Bay Harbor, which would normally imply it to be near the coast. A possible explanation for this is that the town's “harbor” really is on the coast (likely in Monterey Bay) and the town was either massive back in colonial times, or just moved east as time passed.
3) Boom shows Jack, Sky, and Piggy being teleported from Newtech City to various locations. While most of the planet is hard to see due to the sun's location and cloud cover, British Columbia can clearly be seen, and the sizing and start point of the warp beams to the south make it clear that the teleportation is originating from the Monterey Bay area of California. This is a direct location-to-location match though; in terms of population, economy, and demographics, Monterey is not as affluent as Newtech City (and, in fact, is a good parallel to Reefside in that case). See the article on Newtech City for more info.
4) Van Nuys was one of several destinations available to travel to in the episode Ryan's Destiny.
5) Quasar Quest pt. I shows at least one shuttle (the final one) lifting off from Angel Grove to drop its passengers off on Terra Venture. How many more Angel Grove natives became Terra Venture citizens is up in the air. Note that it is popular fanon for all of Terra Venture's citizens to be from Angel Grove, which is actually possible; Terra Venture's population was only in the thousands according to Homesick, which wouldn't deplete much of Angel Grove's population of 376,000 as of Return of the Green Ranger pt. I.
6) Chris Funaro and Amit Bhaumik, both having contacts with the actual PR crew (Bhaumik himself was a writer for WF), had access to the series bible, and revealed to the fandom various tidbits of information regarding TF and WF over the years.
7) Eric gives Taylor a ticket in Reinforcements from the Future pt. I. It's not entirely sensible for Taylor to have purchased a car or randomly traveled so far from her area of protection as a Ranger if they were both in Washington, and Eric would be breaking several laws by handing out tickets so far outside his jurisdiction if they were both in Colorado.
8) While searching for the kidnapped Andrew Hartford in Kick Into Overdrive pt. II, Rose programs a search pattern into the base's computers starting with the “west coast grid”. Ignoring the obviousness of using the name San Angeles, the Rangers would have to be based in a city near the west coast of a primarily English-speaking country at the least. Additionally, Spencer mentions New Mexico's net worth in the previous episode, and when making comparisons, humans in general tend to use items they're familiar with or, in the case of locations, places in their home country.
9) The press release for Jungle Fury is available here.
10) Geographic coordinates given in The Road to Corinth and Rain are questionable due to incorrect hemisphere IDs; the latitude is given on an east/west scheme (west specifically) and the longitude on north/south (north), when it should be the other way around. Inputting the coordinates given in the episodes directly, with the latitude as a negative value and the longitude positive, would put Corinth in the middle of the Indian Ocean, roughly equidistant between the southern tip of Africa, southwest Australia, and Antarctica. Inputting the coordinates backwards, with the numbers given as west in longitude and north in latitude, puts Corinth in southern Greenland. Inverting to what are likely the proper coordinates, however, with latitude north and longitude west with the numbers in the same order originally mentioned, puts Corinth on top of Fenway Park. Probably not coincidentally, Boston is the hometown of the season's first executive producer, as noted here.
11) While parts of the fandom assume Briarwood is in California, it would have to be somewhere in northern CA, as a massive forest located right outside a sprawling city is pretty rare in southern CA. A number of people prefer the theory that it's in Oregon, for much the same reason.
12) Billy, Carlos, Jen, Katie, and Trip had last names revealed via promotional material. Mitchell was a popular surname for Billy at the time of the original seasons airing, but research implies that it's an entirely fan-made name and has no basis in actual canon like Cranston does.
13) Alex's last name comes from the Wild Force info in the series bible.
14) Hayley, Lily, and Dominic's last names, and Ronny's full name, were revealed via casting scripts and press releases.
15) R.J. standing for Robert James came from a Jungle Fury children's book. This same book mentioned Lily Chilman and the show-confirmed Theo Martin.
16) Billy, Carlos, Ashley, Jen, Katie, Casey, Lily, R.J., and Dominic's full names are all mentioned at PowerRangers.com, while Toby, Clare, and Spencer's full names come from the UK Jetix website. Of note is that Ashley's last name was indeed mentioned in the show via her grandmother's appearance; the only question at the time was whether it was really her own last name or her mother's maiden name. Spencer's last name, while not mentioned in the show, did appear in supplemental DVD material.
